Alex Bailin QC is a barrister at Matrix Chambers. He was called to the Bar in 1995 and took silk in 2010. He is a Crown Court Recorder and a Deputy High Court Judge. He in ranked in the legal directories across eight areas spanning criminal and civil law. His core areas are criminal law, public law, human rights and media law. The current editions of both Chambers UK and Legal 500 have high praises for him with Chambers 2014 describing him as “brilliant”, “innovative”, “very authoritative” and “incredibly bright”. He has been instructed in numerous cases in the Supreme Court, House of Lords, Privy Council and European Court of Human Rights. Current work includes representing the media at the Litvinenko Inquest. He was previously a derivatives trader. He attended a comprehensive school and read Mathematics at Cambridge University. He is a contributing author to a number of books on fraud, human rights and criminal justice. He is a regular writer and speaker, appearing on television, radio and in the national press. His mother is Indian; his father is English.
