Andrew Kumar Bagchi QC is a barrister at 1 Garden Court Family Law Chambers. Andrew has a broad base practice that includes complex litigation involving children, divorce and ancillary relief and proceedings in relation to the vulnerable or incapacitated adult before the Court of Protection. He also has a particular interest in cases involving claims of forced marriages. Chambers & Partners ranks him Band 1 in two categories concerning health and welfare and children. He is described as “hugely knowledgeable and has good judgement combined with really strong technical ability ... at the top of the list for instructions”. His recent instructions have included a ground-breaking case in the Supreme Court on the impact of the European Court of Human Rights on the imperative to protect vulnerable witnesses in family proceedings.  Andrew graduated in law from King’s College, London and was called to the Bar in 1989 and took silk in 2015. He is an elected member of the Bar Council and a member of the Family Law Bar Association.
