Jaswant Kaur Narwal is the Chief Crown Prosecutor (CCP) for the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) South East since January 2014. Previously she had been CCP for Sussex, Lincolnshire and the Deputy Chief Crown Prosecutor for the CPS South East Area. Jaswant was the former head of the CPS at the Old Bailey (Central Criminal Court) Trials unit, heading a team of lawyers and caseworkers dealing with up to 300 homicide cases annually, and a District Crown Prosecutor at a number of courts throughout London. She was named Public Service Lawyer of the Year in the Society of Asian Lawyers awards in May 2010. During her time in Lincolnshire she was involved in a number of high-profile and landmark cases - including the first prosecution under the then new bad driving provisions where a father was convicted of killing four of his seven children by driving them in an unroadworthy Land Rover, causing death by dangerous driving, and the first prosecution where a school teenager was convicted of racist bullying.
